The shameless Wobulenzi town councilLC 3 Chairperson who defiled an under aged girl in his area has been denied police bond.

Police declined to release Moses Ssebalamu was arrested on Thursday last week on allegations of defiling a 16-year-old mentally ill girl.

The councilor turned devil was arrested after authorities received complaints from the Community Development and Child Welfare Initiatives (CODI) a human rights non-governmental organization.

The victim recorded a statement at the station alleging that since October, Ssebalamu has been picking her from the town streets and driving her to his home located in Kitante zone as well as community playground where he repeatedly defiled her.

The suspect is being held at Luweero Central Police stationwhere he has spent six days in cells facing the charge of aggravated defilement.

But in rather unfortunate ways, important people including his relatives, friends, LC 3 Chairpersons and Abdul Nadduli the Minister Without Portfolio have since his arrest, been flocking Luweero Central Police station pleading with Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department boss Charles Kusingura and Police Commander Rebecca Ayeta to release Ssebalamu on police bond.

This is on basis that the case is politically motivated and that he deserves bond. There is also an argument that the mandatory 48 hours for Police to detain suspects elapsed and he should be released until investigations are completed.

However, Paul Kangave the Savannah Regional Police Spokesperson says that police resolved not to release the suspect on bond because he may jeopardize investigations, and that the suspect has not appeared in court because of the festive season.

But, the file was this afternoon sent to office of State Attorney and the suspect will appear in court as soon it's sanctioned.

According to Kangave, the 16-year-old mentally ill girl is currently being looked after at Luweero Children Reception centre run by Police and Non-Government Organizations.
