All persons entering the country through Entebbe International Airport must be screened for Ebola, the World Health Organization has ordered.

The development comes after the number of persons infected and dead from the virus in the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo rose to 755 and more than 100 people respectively.

Airport authorities were initially screening only passengers returning on flights from Democratic Republic of Congo-DRC, but now, everyone coming through Entebbe will be screened.

According to Simon Ebachu the head of Ebola screening, WHO has instructed that all passengers entering the country be screened as DRC struggles to contain the unending Ebola outbreak.

Now, more than 40 health workers have been stationed at the Airport to screen all passengers, and the passengers will be screened using an automatic thermal stand that screens people's temperatures as soon as they arrive at the airport.

As soon as one is detected, he or she is taken to an isolation centre at Entebbe Referral Hospital, Ebachu adds.
