Rwanda is accusing her closest neighbor Uganda of harboring rebel group Rwanda National Congress.

Richard Sezibera the Rwandan foreign minister says the rebels are being helped by some peoplein Uganda who have helped them set base which they use to organize their activities with their counterparts in South Africa.

Addressing the press in Kigali Rwanda, Sezibwra says they do not understand why the equation of Uganda and Rwanda would include RNC, adding that the group is at the verge of collapsing, but Uganda needs to stop helping it.

This afternoon, Sam Kuteesa the Ugandan Foreign affairs minister released a statement refuting the same claims. Minister Kutesa says the problem is a matter of confidential communication at the highest level of the two countries.

He explained that Uganda will cannot allow anyone to operate from its territory  that threatens a neighbor as alleged by Rwanda.

"This is a principled position. We are fully aware that our own development and transformation cannot take place without peace and security in the region. It is for this region that Uganda has continued to champion closer collaboration and coordination within regional frameworks like EAC, ICGLR, IGAD and even at the continental level" the statement reads.

Meanwhile, Sezibera told Rwandan media that the Gatuna border was not closed and none of Rwanda's borders were closed, accusing the media of peddling lies. However, minister Kutesa says the restriction of movement of goods at the common border will hurt both countries' economies.
