Residents of Kihudu village Muhinda Parish in Nyakiyumbu Sub County are living in fear after some unknown thugs raided a vanilla farm in Kasese district killing one person.
Vincent Twesige, the Rwenzori East Region Police Spokesperson has identified the deceased as 19-year-old Godfrey Kaseru. Kaseru succumbed to gunshot wounds he sustained when he attempted to confront thugs who raided the vanilla garden he was guarding in the wee hours of Monday.
The robbers then fled the scene after realizing that residents had started making alarm. Police is investigating the attack vide CRB2019176.
According to Twesige, Vanilla theft remains a huge challenge in Kasese district especially in Bukonzo East and West constituencies.
