President Yoweri Museveni has visited and condoled with the family, friends and mourners of slain IHK Doctor Catherine Agaba.

Dr. Agaba was murdered by a security guard Ronald Obangakene at her home in Muyenga last week. Her body was found in a septic tank, days after she was announced missing.

The 24th year old Obangakene on Wednesday appeared before the Grade Two Magistrate John Okipi who charged him with aggravated robbery and one count of murder.

Okipi remanded Obangakene to Luzira Prison until May 13th as investigations in the case continue.

Obangakene confessed that on April, 12th, 2019 Obangakene while at GPS Apartments in Muyenga Bukasa Parish, Kampala District strangled Dr Agaba killing her instantly.

President Museveni on Wednesday evening visited her home in Kashari, Mbarara district where Dr. Agaba was laid to rest. He says that she was a young girl with so much potential to the country.

“Such a criminal should not have the luxury of going to prison. I am deeply saddened by the death of this young girl, and others before her. We must move decisively to deter such heinous and senseless acts of crime. We shall now put out fire with fire” the president said.

He added that when the NRA took power, they made some alterations to some of the punishment methods in dealing with Wanainchi. The death penalty was one such alteration. “However, over time, it is clearer that we need to amend the law” Mr. Museveni added.

The president urged Parliament to look into this legislation, to complete the cycle of work done by a few good elements of police, alongside the army intelligence in apprehending such criminals as this one, who had escaped with the deceased's property to his village.

“I thank Mr. Rutagumbwa, a father of humble means but who has educated his children. I was happy to learn that Dr. Catherine's siblings include a computer scientist, an accountant and a soldier” he said
