A dark cloud is hovering over Bujumba County MP in Kalangala district where former MP Gerald Mulwanira Mutebi has succumbed to cardiac arrest.
Mutebi according to a relative identified as Lodvic Kiberu, breathed his last at his home in Bunamwaya, Makindye Ssabagabo municipality on Tuesday night.
The body of the late former legislator was taken to Mulago city mortuary for postmortem this morning. By press time, the late Mulwanira’s family was yet to come up with a burial program.
“We have not yet drawn a program for the funeral rites. We expect to coordinate with teams from both Parliament and Cabinet as a family to plan on when and where burial will take place,” Kiberu said.
Mulwanira served as the first Bujumba Constituency Member of Parliament shortly after the promulgation of the 1995 constitution before being replaced by Joseph Herman Kakooza.
The deceased also served as Deputy Housing and Urban Development Minister in 1994. By the time of his death, he was a senior consultant at the Architectural department of Makerere University.
The late Mulwanira is survived by seven children and wife.
