Trouble has befallen the Bukomansimbi District officer-in-charge of Criminal Intelligence and Investigations Department-CIID who has been suspended by his bosses over bribery allegations.
Enoch Baine the Greater Masaka Regional Police Commander announced the suspension of Steven Musinguzi on Thursday following repeated complaints of bribery labeled against him by people seeking police services.
The announcement was made Thursday during a community meeting held in Bukomansimbi town council.
Last week, Abdul Muyingo, a crime preventer in Kitanda Sub County and his wife in arrested by Police on allegations of child trafficking, but the suspects were released and fled before being charged.
This angered residents led by Safina Namukwaya who pinned Musinguzi of having connived with suspects to frustrate the case.
It was later decided that the officer steps aside and be investigated by the regional Police Professional Standard Unit-PSU.
Baine promised to request police human resource directorate to deploy another officer to help streamline the police operations in Bukomansimbi.
Adding that he had ordered for the arrest of the suspected child kidnappers, but was surprised when they were released without his knowledge.
