Four people have been arrested by Police in Kampala for defrauding people claiming to have the capacity to print money.

The suspects have been identified as David Wambuzi, Gordon Kavuma, Leila Malika and one Alice.

Patrick Onyango, Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson says the suspects defrauded over 30 million shillings from some people promising to sell to them a money printing machine. The victims were duped to first send the money in order to acquire the whole machine.

“They deceived victims that their money would be multiplied. We believe this group has defrauded very many people claiming that they have money printing machine,” Onyango said.

According to Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) records of 2018, Ugandans lost 11 billion shillings to land and property fraudsters. People were duped with fake money-making deals, fake land titles, and duplicate foreign currencies.

Onyango said some of the victims were conned in Kireka Trading Centre in Wakiso District.

He adds that Kavuma is detained at Jinja Road Police Station while others are detained at Kira Road police station and cautioned public against being lured into illegal businesses that excite them thinking they would accumulate wealth in hours.

The public has also been warned to be careful with fraudsters with swift profit-making deals yet their target is to defraud unsuspecting people.
