Gulu Grade One Magistrate Vian Kwezira has remanded 45 suspected burglars to Gulu Prison.
The suspects who were arrested last week by police for allegedly attacking Jino Otti, the LC One Chairperson of Industrial Area, Layibi Division in Gulu Municipality and vandalized his office, were remanded on Tuesday afternoon.
On Thursday last week, gunshots rocked Gulu Municipality as a combined security force of police and the army attempted to contain a fight that erupted between street gangs and a vigilante group in Industrial area, Layibi Division.
They accused Otti of forming a local vigilante group to rid it of petty thieves who attacked residents and waylaid on the way at night in the area.
The suspects were charged with four counts including conspiracy to commit felony contrary to section 390 of the Penal Code Act, threatening violence and unlawful possession of narcotic drugs.
They pleaded not guilty to the offences and were remanded to Gulu Prison until July 8th.
