As you already know ... We don't normally post stuff like this, but, well... we have to pass on a message from the president, right? It w'd be rude of us if we didn't.

This is a statement from president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni about investing in Ugandan...

"I have met the Ugandan diaspora and business community in Texas, and urged American investors to invest in Uganda especially in manufacturing and infrastructural development.

For a long time, the people in the West have been taking it easy because they were the only developed ones. However countries such as China, Brazil and India are coming up and now the west has to learn to compete. We have several links with America and it is easy to partner with them.

On the lack of relevant investment information by members of the Diaspora, I directed Ambassadors, once again, to ensure that investors and Ugandans abroad have the right information to make informed decisions about investing in Uganda.

Some diplomats think that drinking champagne is their only assignment. I'm telling them that they can drink the champagne but most of all promote Uganda. I have also guided Uganda's Investment Authority to become one-stop centre in order to provide more detailed information on Uganda.

Uganda is well positioned in the region and is endowed with natural resources. With preferential terms for our products in the USA and Europe which are tarrif and quota free, investing in Uganda guarantees access to regional and global markets.

The middle class in Africa is growing, the consumer base is also growing. However, there is a short supply of entrepreneurs." —— President Y.K Museveni
