Ugandans from all walks of life are excited about the arrival of two CRJ 900 Aircraft for Uganda Airlines that is expected to touch down at Entebbe International airport.
The Aircraft that is being flown by Captains Michael Mutebi and Charles Karabarinde left the Bombardier warehouse in Canada late last week.
They are expected to arrive at exactly 2:30PM local time today, at an event that will be attended by government officials and other invited guests. President Yoweri Museveni is expected to be chief guest.
The arrival of the aircraft brings to 4 the number of CRJ 900 owned by the new airline. This in turn also means an expansion in the route plan with at least 5 more routes being added.
While addressing a group of online media journalists recently, Ms. Jenifer Bamuturaki the Airline’s Commercial Director explained that the new routes will include; Lusaka, Harare, Johannesburg, Kigali, Djibouti, Kinshasa and Zanzibar among others.
Commercial operations to the new routes are expected to start in December this year. Currently, the airline flies to Nairobi, Mogadishu, Dar es Salaam, Juba and Bujumbura.
On November 11th, they are expected to make their first commercial flights to Mombasa and Kilimanjaro, routes that have already attracted several bookings.
Several people on social media did not hide their excitement as they congratulated the airline upon expanding its fleet. With just one month in business, Uganda Airlines has received a lot of support from locals traveling regional routes.
