The head of State President Yoweri Museveni on Sunday arrived in London-UK for the UK-Africa Investment Summit 2020 which starts today.

Mr. Museveni flew from Lome, Togo to London, UK, where he joins other heads of state including his Rwandan counterpart Paul Kagame with whom they are expected to meet on the sidelines of the summit.

“I will take part in the UK-Africa Investment Summit. The NRM government is committed to attracting more investment to Uganda, now that most of the crucial infrastructure is in place” Museveni wrote on Twitter.

After a year full of side eyes, Museveni and Kagame meeting in London will be the first meeting for the Presidents since last August when they met in Luanda, Angola and signed a Memorandum of Understanding intended to resolve a dispute that has seen the border between two countries closed for at least a year.

The meeting, according to an official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will give a clear hint of whether the dispute is nearing resolution.

With Museeni in London, is foreign Affairs minister Sam Kutesa, Finance minister Matia Kasaija and State Minister Evelyn Anite.

The UK-Africa summit brings together 21 African countries with the UK and African companies.

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson will use his opening speech to illustrate this modern partnership with examples of UK businesses like Dorset-based Low Energy Designs, which is installing smart street lighting across Nigeria, Northern Irish firm Lagan which has won the contract to build a business park in Uganda, and Diageo which is investing 67 million British Pounds, to build a state of the art, environmentally friendly breweries in Kenya and wider East Africa.”

Also, Rwanda with the World Bank will launch a 3-year, fixed-rate, RWF-denominated bond worth USD 40 million at the London Stock Exchange  during the summit.
