Two children have died while 5 other members of their family are fighting for dear lives in Namutumba after they were allegedly poisoned.
Aaron Mwesigwa 10 and his sister, Esther Tandeke 13 are part of the seven family members of Namato village in Namutumba town council, Namutumba district who were admitted at Iganga Hospital on Monday after eating food suspected to contain poison.
The other family members include; Ernesitansio Mutebe, Esther Mutebe, Emerson Masigala, James Waiswa and Beatrice Namuwowola.
According to Isakwa Mukebele, the deceased's neighbour, they family delayed to wake up and he decided to force their door open.
"I left the garden at around 11:00 am but noticed that my neighbours were not awake, so I alerted other residents and we collectively opened the door only to find them lying helplessly on the floor," Isakwa narrates.
The Busoga East police spokesperson James Mubi says the post-mortem reports indicate that, the deceased succumbed to food poisoning.
Doctors at Iganga general hospital say the patients are out of danger and will be discharged before the end of this week.
