The Ugandan Embassy in China has confirmed the death of a Ugandan student, a one Mbogo Shafiq who allegedly fell off a balcony of his hostel at Shenyang University.

The Ugandan Embassy in China has confirmed the death of a Ugandan student, a one Mbogo Shafiq who allegedly fell off a balcony of his hostel at Shenyang University.

A statement from the Embassy addressed to the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Uganda, indicates that Mbogo, a holder of Passport number B0981623 was found dead outside his hostel of residence on Thursday February 27th 2020 at about 2PM.

“The Embassy has contacted the school administration and the Public Security Bureau who confirmed the death and informed that investigations are underway before they can formally communicate to the Embassy about the actual cause of death. They however informed that initial investigations had ruled out homicide” the statement reads.

The Ag. Ambassador to China Philip Kanyoozi the deceased was only 22 years old and hails from Mbale. Mbogo was a 4th year student undertaking a bachelor’s degree in International Business and Trade. 

The deceased’s mother Dorothy Wagalinda who lives in the UK has been informed of her son’s death and asked for a proper report to be made concerning Mbogo’s death.

The development comes just a day after parents of children stuck in Wuhan China, an area with the Corona Virus outbreak, convened at Speke Hotel in Kampala and broke down in tears asking government to repatriate their children before they perish in China.
