Three police outposts in Apac District are under lock after Security Committee closed them citing alleged inadequate manpower.

Those affected are; Olelpek, Atar and Acholi-inn police outposts, the District Police Commander, Philip Mukasa says, adding that each of the three outposts had one officer manning them although around three to four officers are required.

Apac Resident State Attorney recently told a stakeholder’s meeting that due to high demand for police services, they are considering three police outposts before the end of July this year pending approval from government.

These will be established at either Apac main hospital or Apac Bus Park, Maruzi Ranch in Akokoro Sub County and Chakali trading center in Ibuje Sub County.

According to Beatrice Akello Akori, the Apac Resident District Commissioner, they are grappling with inadequate manpower but says they will continue pressing for more manpower from government to ensure peace and security in the community.

It is remembered that in January this year, one police outpost was closed over the same reason, but would later be reopened after a month.
