The Police in Seeta have in custody three suspected thugs who were allegedly found breaking into a shop in the wee hours of Tuesday morning.
The suspected are identified as; Okello Denis, Obbo Ronald and Opuresi Francis. Opuresi is a security guard reportedly working for one of the factories in Goma Division, while Obbo and Okello are Boda-boda riders.
These were arrested by Local Defence Units (LDUs) who were patrolling Namyoyo village, Goma Division of Mukono Municipality at around 3am.
According to Maj. Bilal Katamba, the Uganda People Defence Forces (UPDF) First Division spokesperson, the group had picked several items among others clothes and sowing machines from the shop. He said the thugs were arrested as they left the scene.
Upon arrest, Okello and Obbo revealed to police at Seeta police station that they are Boda-boda riders who carry out their work in Seeta and other neighboring places, but have resorted to stealing because there is a ban on public transport and Boda-bodas cannot carry people as well for them to earn.
Obbo told police that he has a family that he needs to feed but without riding a Boda-boda he has no means.
