Hon Helen Kahunde the Woman MP for Kiryandongo is not positive for COVID-19 as alleged by media and she is yet to receive her test results. The MP says she tested for Coronavirus on Tuesday and that reports of her receiving a positive result are wrong.
On Wednesday, media houses run a story of Kahunde testing positive for the disease, a result that left the entire house in panic, leading to a decision to start testing all MPs and Parliamentary staff today.
Effective today Thursday July 16th 2020, all legislators and staff of Parliament will start undergoing tests for COVID-19. The speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga told the house on Wednesday, that the exercise will be carried out in clusters. Kah
unde admits that she did test for COVID-19 but was yet to see her results, adding that she did not have any signs and symptoms of COVID-19.
The MP also says that her temperature is normal, she has no headache and that generally she is doing well, except for the overwhelming phone calls she is getting due to the posts about her being positive of COVID-19.
It has since been revealed that a section of Members of Parliament from the National Resistance Movement (NRM) side were meeting the President on Tuesday, and were all subjected to a COVID-19 test.
However, Kahunde says she tested on Tuesday and on Wednesday she was called again and informed that her results were inconsistent and needed to test again.
But, on her way to Mulago on Wednesday for her second test, she was overwhelmed with social media messages and calls, and she ended up questioning what was happening.
According to the legislator, she called Dr. Henry Kyobe who is in charge of the results and he also had no idea on the news doing round on social media and online news sites.
