Officers at Old Kampala Police station are investigating a case of attempted suicide by burning of Edgar Kyamunywa, 40, a resident of Masanafu Zone Bukulugi.
According to the KMP deputy police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, the incident happened yesterday at around 9pm.
Kyamunywa was later rushed to the hospital at Kiriddu, but in critical condition.
“Police have kicked off investigations into the matter to ascertain what exactly made him attempt suicide. However, some of his children have intimated that he had promised to burn himself in front of a gate of a woman who had continuously rejected him for a boyfriend” Owoyesigyire says.
This makes it a second incident of suicide by burning this week for reason connected to rejection. Owoyesigyire advised all men to remain calm whenever they are in such situation and seek help from experts.
