Nabweru Court Grade One Magistrate Achok Abrahams Moding has remanded the Kiyaga Zone LCI Chairperson in Kawempe Division who allegedly disarmed a policeman to Kasangati Prison.
Police arrested Joachim Kimera on Tuesday, for allegedly disarming Corporal Jack Rutabaleka, while on duty during the youth elections at Kiyaga Zone Bwaise I, Kawempe Division during the declaration of results.
According to eyewitnesses, the youth turned to Rutabaleka who was providing security at the venue and insulted him. Six men allegedly came from behind and grabbed him and in the process, Kimera disarmed him.
Kimera and Twaha Nkata, the youth chairperson appeared before Nabweru Court Grade One Magistrate Achok Abrahams Moding on Thursday, on charges of being armed in a public place contrary to section 75 (a) of the Penal Code Act.
Their bail application was denied after the state prosecutor Chris Kahiigwa told the court that investigations into the matter are still on-going.
The duo denied the charges and were remanded to Kasangati Prisons until August 27th.
