A Uganda Peoples'Defense Forces-UPDF soldier is in deep trouble following his arrest for shooting a woman dead.
Lance Corporal Moses Keben shot and killed a woman identified as Florence Mariam Muganda a mother of ten, during the just concluded National Resistance Movement -NRM Party Primaries.
The incident happened during the chaos which arose from the delayed declaration of results from the primaries in Bugiri district. It is alleged that Muganda was selling pancakes along Obama road in Bugiri municipality when a stray bullet hit her in the chest and was rushed to Jinja regional referral hospital emergency unit where she was confirmed dead on arrival.
According to eyewitnesses, security personnel opened fire after being pelted with stones.
The Jinja zone UPDF spokesperson Edwin Mawanda noted that the suspect is being detained at Magamaga military barracks pending investigations into the incident.
