Three members of one family are dead after the boat they were travelling in capsized and they drowned in River Kafu, Kikuube district.

On Tuesday morning, residents of Rwemparaki village in Ruhunga parish Buhimba sub-county Kikuube district went looking for the three people but found their bodies floating on River Kafu. The deceased have been identified as Edward Rutendeka 53, his wife Gloria Bijimana 30 and their three-month-old baby girl.

The family was on Monday morning crossing from Rwemparaki village to Bananywa village in Kyankwanzi district but drowned on their return when the canoe was swept away by strong winds forcing it to capsize.
