The National Unity Platform, NUP President Kyagulanyi Robert Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine has postponed the launch of the party’s 2021-2026 manifesto.
The development follows the passing of the Chairman Salam Charity, Sheikh Anas Kaliisa. The late political analyst died on Wednesday evening in a mysterious manner.
His family says the Sheikh died after coming back from office and complained of some sharp chest pain and asked his wife for soup, but was found dead in his bed, moments later.
He is set to be laid to rest on Friday in Ruhama Ntungamo.
Now, NUP was expected to launch their Manifesto in Mbarara on Friday.
“In light of the untimely death of senior leader, Sheikh Anas Kaliisa, who will be buried this Friday in Ntungamo, we have postponed our manifesto launch to Saturday 7th November, to enable our senior leaders, including myself, to participate in the funeral. The manifesto launch is scheduled to take place in Mbarara, Kakoba Division. We have accordingly notified the Electoral Commission and Uganda police!” Kyagulanyi says.
Dr. Anas Kaliisa will be laid to rest on Friday at Ruhama Ntungamo. This morning, his body is currently lying at Kibuli mosque where mourners have gathered to pray for his soul.
