Makerere University Administration has embarked on an exercise to reconstruct all staff records that were destroyed in the fire that gutted the main building in September 2020.
Following the incident, MAK Vice Chancellor Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe issued a statement indicating that all documents were safe.
“The fire at our main building was a big tragedy. However, I would like to assure all our Alumni, staff, students and General public that ALL our records past and current; Human Resource, Student Academic and Financial records are ALL safely stored in digital form” Nawangwe wrote.
However in a memo dated 6th January 2021 and addressed to all staff, the AG Director Human Resources Ssanyu Lawrence, the university is currently reconstructing staff records.
The memo urges all staffs to submit their documents not later than 20th January 2021.
“This is to bring to your attention that the University is in the process of reconstructing Staff records following the fire that gutted the Main Building. The office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (F&A) is spearheading this noble cause with support from the Directorate of Human Resources” part of the memo reads.
The staffs have been advised to submit all documents to the respective Human Resource Officers of Colleges/units.
