Body of a 27-year-old mechanic in Hoima City who went missing a week ago has been in Kinyara Sugarcane Plantation in Masindi district.

John Katusabe, a resident of Duhaga Roundabout in Hoima West Division in Hoima City was discovered by cane cutters on Tuesday evening who later alerted Masindi police.
According to Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police spokesperson the deceased had bruises on the head, face, both hands and back. A team of detectives from Hoima central police station rushed to the scene where the body was found.

Hakiza says Katusabe’s relatives reported a case of a missing person at Hoima Central police station on February 15, 2021, when he failed to return home from work and police has since been looking for him.

They were however contacted by their Masindi counterparts informing them about a body that had been recovered from a sugarcane plantation.

Police in Hoima notified Katusabe's relatives and they rushed to the scene where they positively identified the body. The deceased has been dealing in second-hand motorcycles and had gone to Kyangwali in Kukuube district on Friday last week to buy a motorcycle from an undisclosed person but never returned home.
