Aruu County MP, Samuel Odonga Otto has been driven back to Gulu City where he will face charges of having an illegal gun. He had been brought to the Criminal Investigations Directorate –CID in Kampala, following his arrest in Gulu on Tuesday.
Otto was arrested by a team of officers led by CID’s Deputy Director for Anti-Corruption and economic crimes, Francis Olugu and general crimes acting Commissioner Topher Gime.
According to Charles Twine the CID Spokesperson, Otto will be arraigned in Gulu court tomorrow Friday to face offences illegal possession of a firearm, assault and malicious property damage among others.
The outgoing MP was held at Special Investigations Division –SID in Kireka since his arrest two days ago. Otto’s charges are date back to 2019 when he allegedly assaulted a journalist at Pece Stadium in Gulu town during a football match between Acholi Province and West Nile.
At the time of arrest, Otto was found with the gun whose license he had not renewed and that translates into illegal possession of a firearm.
