Police in Wakiso have commenced investigations into the murder of journalist Robert Kagolo at Bugembejembe village, a presenter at Star FM. Kagolo was shot by LDU personnel at around 8pm last evening.
ASP Luke Owoyesigyire the Deputy Spokesperson KMP has told reporters that Robert Kagolo was returning from the village after the burial of his brother, when he hurriedly gained entrance into his late brother’s home. He had suspected that some unknown people were following him.
However, the home was being guarded by two LDU personnel, who were deployed following the murder of Samuel Musiitwa, Kagolo’s brother a week ago.
The journalist allegedly knocked the gate with his motor vehicle, leading to a disagreement with the LDUs, which unfortunately ended into the shooting.
According to Owoyesigyire, they are still investigating circumstances under which one of the two guards identified as Mamuli Rashid, pulled the trigger.
Kagolo was rushed to ST Joseph Hospital Wakiso where he succumbed to the injuries. Police rushed to the scene and arrested the killer and his unidentified colleague.
By press time, Kagolo's body was still in Wakiso.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
