A joint security team has cordoned off the National Unity Platform-NUP head offices in Kamwokya on Wednesday, as President Yoweri Museveni was being sworn in at Kololo.

The area is surrounded by heavily armed police, local defence and military personnel.
On Tuesday, the National Unity Platform–NUP party leadership declared today, a day of prayer and fasting, dedicating Uganda to God. They had planned to hold Special prayers at the head offices.
According to the party spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi, they are seeking God’s intervention for the country at a time when its engulfed in human rights abuses, extrajudicial killings, and bad governance.
“As Museveni swears himself in, we as National Unity Platform shall be praying and fasting for this country, because we believe our land needs healing, people are being murdered every day, democracy was kicked out this country, we have only wicked people ruling over us, so we shall be praying for God’s intervention, Ssenyonyi told journalists on Tuesday."
However, military officers who pitched camp at their offices turned away the officials who had come to attend the prayers.
