The police at Jinja Road Police Station have in custody 8 students of Kyambogo University, following a strike at the campus this morning. The incident occurred at around 1100hrs when student guild leaders at the University mobilised students to go on strike. 

According to Luke Owoyesigyire the Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, the students wanted online learning stopped, alleging that they were very expensive. They also asked for extension of the semester. 

Owoyesigyire says they became unruly, but police dispersed them and brought the situation under control.  

Police managed to arrest eight students identified as; Kato Eriasa, Kasozi Bright, Namara Claire, Nkurunziza Alphonse, Malingumu Ivan, Ssali Geoffrey, Waiswa Calvin and Mbazira John. 

They have been charged with inciting violence and are detained at Jinja Road Police Station as investigations continue.
