Uganda Police Force has revealed that Makindye MP West Ssewanyana Allan and his Kawempe North Counterpart Ssegirinya Muhammad were the masterminds for the latest crimes in Greater Masaka Region, which left 26 people dead and several others injured.
Speaking at the weekly press conference at their headquarters in Naguru, police spokesperson CP Fred Enanga said the duo is accused of training and facilitating Panga wielding men who have been terrorizing residents in Greater Masaka Region.
Enanga added that the MPs were implicated by some of the suspects, who claim they conducted trainings in Ndeeba, Kampala before dispatching them to join another team that was on ground.
“We expect to record statements from two members of Parliament, Hon. Ssewanyana and Ssegirinya as the masterminds behind the vicious murders. We zeroed on them based on admissions from suspects clearly indicating how they were recruited, taken through the intentionally designed plans in a meeting they held at Ndeeba, aimed at creating animosity against elderly victims in selected districts” Enanga told the press.
The suspects further claim they were promised wealth to motivate them to carry out the murders under the command of the two politicians.
