The UPDF and ASTU have beefed up the security situation especially in Kotido and Panyangara following an incident in which suspected warriors shot dead two people in Kotido District.
Reports indicate that the gunmen attacked Panyangara Trading Centre in Kotido Municipal Council at around 9:00 pm on Monday, shot and killed David Ocen, the Principal Town Agent Kotidi, and one unidentified Boda Boda rider.
They also injured Dr Peter Lomowga, a health worker of Panyangara Health Centre III who was shot in the leg.
The community in Panyangara has seen attacks from gunmen waylaying road users.
Two weeks ago, a cyclist was beaten and robbed 400,000 Shillings while riding from Panyangara to Kotido town.
Police responded to the attack but residents say it took almost an hour before they arrived at the scene. Adding that the attackers are notorious warriors who are against the ongoing disarmament exercise.
Captain Edrin Mawanda the Third Division Army Spokesperson says that the UPDF and ASTU have beefed up the deployment especially in Kotido and Panyangara and that the UPDF is pursuing the killers.
