Police in Luuka District are searching for unknown assailants who hacked a man to death.
The deceased has been identified as Wilson Mafabi a resident of Budhuba B Village, in Ikumbya Sub County, in Luuka district.
It is reported that the deceased left his home on Wednesday night but did not return, prompting his neighbors to search for him.
Residents discovered Mafabi's body later on Thursday afternoon in a wetland, with deep cuts on the head, hands and chest.
The deceased’s motorcycle registration number; UDR 801H, which he is believed to have been riding was also found hidden in a bush.
Nelson Makoha, Mafabi's son noted that his father left for the trading centre on Wednesday night to purchase some groceries at around 8:00 pm but, they waited for his return in vain.
The family alerted local leaders after they failed to trace his whereabouts.
According to Grace Saahe the LCI Chairperson, cases of murder are not common within their area but he believes that Mafabi was targeted by individuals who might have been trailing him for a long time.
Michael Kasadha the Busoga North's regional police spokesperson says that investigations have commenced.
