According to ASP Nampiima Faridah the PRO Traffic Directorate and Road Safety Uganda Police, they expect heavy traffic due to increased movement of persons, hence, better to plan the journeys earlier to avoid rushing and reckless driving.

To avoid inconvenience, Nampiima says that all passenger service vehicle crew members (drivers, conductor and turn man), should carry their vaccination cards and advise their passengers to observe COVID19 SOPs of wearing their face masks at all times.

She added that the Traffic police will be carrying out spot checks for COVID 19 SOPs.

Meanwhile, Nampiima also warned drivers of PSVs to avoid loading excess passengers, rushing students during offloading their luggage so as not to misplace them. Students have been advised to only bard from gazette taxi and bus parks in order to ensure safe travels back to school.

Boda boda riders were also reminded to ride carefully while transporting students to schools to avoid accidents.

While addressing the media at Naguru on Monday, Nampiima noted that the country is still faced with covid 19 pandemic and the threat of the new variant, hence advising all road users to observe Sops at all times.
