Police in Sironko are looking for a 38-year-old man on the run for attempting to bury his three-year-old biological son alive.
The suspect, Simon Manake, is a resident of Mayiyi village Bukusege parish Busamaga Sub-County in Sironko district. Manake dug a grave for his child following a bitter misunderstanding with his wife identified as Irene.
According to Tom Kidandi, the LC I chairperson of Mayiyi village, Manake was involved in a fight with his wife after arguing about their differences in parenting opinions. Manake accused his wife of raising the toddler as a stubborn and disobedient child.
It took the intervention of local leaders who counseled the couple and tried to calm the situation. But, Manake later dug a grave and tried to bury the minor alive, prompting the mother to raise the alarm that attracted the locals causing him to flee into hiding.
Moses Maduli, the LCIII chairperson of Busamaga Sub County, says that Manake acted under the influence of alcohol. He adds that Manake is fond of excessive alcohol consumption which leads him into fights with his wife. He says a manhunt has been launched for Manake who is expected to be charged with attempted murder.
