A report from the Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety Police reveals that a total of 6,374 motorcycles have been impounded countrywide since a crackdown commenced on Monday, November 07, 2022.
1,722 of the Boda Bodas were impounded in Kampala and Wakiso areas in the ongoing festive crackdown.
According to the spokesperson Faridah Nampiima, some of the impounded motorcycles that are being held at various police stations countrywide were found in breach of guidelines.

The guidelines under the festive operation require all motorcyclists to wear crash helmets, retro-reflective jackets, possess PSV permits, ride motorcycles in good mechanical condition, and observe traffic signs.
She says that besides the impounded motorcycles, a total of 4,926 EPS tickets were issued to offenders while 1,448 motorcycles are pending at the stations.
Nampiima has appreciated all riders who have complied with the directives.

Traffic police indicate that at least four in every five deaths reported daily are from Boda Boda accidents in Kampala city.
The operation will last until the end of the festive season in Kampala and upcountry.
