Police at Nagalama have helped a mother deliver a child at their station. The mother who had gone to report a case of neglect and failure to provide by her parents during her pregnancy gave birth to a baby girl.

It is alleged that the man responsible for her pregnancy disappeared.

18-year-old Nabaweesi Amina is a resident of Katega village in Kabembe. She allegedly travelled on foot over 12kms to CPS Nagalama to report her plight.

However, on arrival, she went into labour and the DPC SP Simon Syamutsangira noticed and made arrangements to get her to the Health center I where a clinical officer helped her deliver the child.

SSP Patrick Onyango the PRO KMP says that after attending to her, she was discharged and safely transported by the Police team back to her village.

The division management decided to support her financially and materially to have the baby meet basic needs and contributions a tune of Shs 91000 was made as well as an assortment of clothes was handed over to her at the station.

Police have since established that Nabaweesi’s parents abandoned her when she conceived the second child without them knowing the responsible man and she was chased from home.

She has been living at the home of the LC1 chairperson who also chased her away.

The teenager says she grew up with her grandmother and has no knowledge of her mother.
