Police in Kampala are investigating the circumstances under which a truck gutted fire at Kyengera Town Council on Tuesday afternoon.

The truck registration number UBB 590B Isuzu Fuso suddenly went up in flames at a fuel station on Nakawuka Road, Kasenge trading center.

Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesman says the vehicle had gone to deliver fuel at Spring Oil fuel station when they noticed fumes starting from the same direction where a woman was cooking.

Onyango says the driver didn't realize the smoke was coming out of his car and instead hit the road. A few minutes later, the car caught fire.

Onyango says police officers at Kajjansi and Nateete police stations managed to extinguish the fire before it could cause havoc.

He has appealed to all fuel station operators to always take all the necessary safety precautions that they are required to do before the delivery of fuel is done at the station.
