Unknown assailants attacked and robbed a prominent businessman of 28 million Shillings in Paidha town council, Zombo District.
The incident happened on Tuesday at Kaya trading center in Dwonga Ward around 7.45 pm.
The police say that the robbers traveling on a Bajaj motorcycle shot at the lorry truck in which the businessman was traveling, before ordering him to hand over the money in the bag.
The businessman who, according to police preferred anonymity, was driving towards the direction of Nebbi town in a vehicle that was meant to transport alcohol.
Nelson Nahabwe, the Zombo District Police Commander says that investigations into the matter have commenced after the victim recorded a statement at Paidha Police Station.
James Oyulu Oruna, the LCV Chairperson for Zombo described the incident as unfortunate and appealed to the local residents to be vigilant in the wake of increased armed robberies in the West Nile sub-region over the past few months.
The latest incident comes just a month after another prominent businessman in Arua City was robbed of 50 million Shillings at gunpoint.
