Police in Isingiro district are investigating a tragic incident of murder of Marion Kyokusiima, 28, and her two-year-old daughter, by the husband, Yowasi Ndyanabo, 35.
Officers are hunting for the suspect, a resident of Bugongi cell in Nyakitunda sub-county, who is on the run.
According to Samson Kasasira the spokesperson for the Rwizi Police Region, the suspect reportedly committed the murder on an undisclosed date and subsequently contacted his relatives to inform them of his monstrous actions.
Upon receiving the news, the relatives immediately notified the police, triggering a search operation for both the bodies of the victims and the suspect.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the incident arose from an ongoing dispute between the couple, leading to Kyokusiima's decision to leave her marital home due to repeated incidents of domestic violence.
It was on the day she decided to return home, convinced by the suspect, that Kyokusiima met her untimely demise.
Kasasira reveals that the police have conveyed the bodies of the victims to the mortuary at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital for postmortem examination while continuing their efforts to arrest the suspect.
According to Kiiza Onesmus Mugabi, a neighbor to the couple, the bodies were discovered on Wednesday evening in a banana plantation close to Nyakitunda Secondary School.
Mugabi explains that Ndyanabo, who worked as a Boda boda rider in Nyakitunda township, had been living apart from his wife due to his accusations of infidelity, intensifying the strained relationship between them.
