Controversial TikToker Resto Kalenzi, who featured in a video claiming to be associated with the terror group ADF responsible for the Kasese school attack, has been further remanded until July 17. Kalanzi appeared before Lugazi Chief Magistrates Court, presided over by Magistrate Augustine Aule.
Wearing a white sweater, Kalanzi was escorted from a police patrol vehicle, along with four other prisoners, and placed in a court cell for temporary custody. A crowd gathered at the court premises to witness the proceedings.
He faced charges of hate speech and spreading unsolicited information via social media, to which he pleaded not guilty. However, Kalanzi's attempt to apply for bail encountered a setback when his relatives, including his father, who were supposed to provide surety, failed to appear in court. As a result, the trial magistrate ordered Kalenzi to be remanded at Kawolo Government prison until July 17. Kalanzi and his relatives were visibly distraught, with tears flowing, upon hearing the decision.
In a previous court session, Kalanzi pleaded for forgiveness from President Museveni and the people of Kasese, claiming that he was not involved in the killings.
