The Opposition in Parliament, led by the Leader of the Opposition, Hon. Joel Ssenyonyi, convened in the Parliament Conference Hall yesterday for the presentation of the Alternative National Budget Priorities for FY 2024/2025. NUP President, Hon. Kyagulanyi Robert, was also in attendance.

In his address, Hon. Joel Ssenyonyi emphasized that in the upcoming fiscal year, the Opposition has adopted an approach that places human rights at the forefront of budget considerations.

“This human rights-based approach serves as the cornerstone of our budget, underscoring our commitment to safeguarding freedoms,” stated Ssenyonyi.

He further stressed the importance of government allocating resources in a manner that fosters accountability and transparency.

“As the opposition, we do not simply oppose; we provide alternatives, and that is precisely what we are presenting today,” remarked Hon. Joel Ssenyonyi during the presentation of the Alternative National Budget Priorities for FY 2024/2025.

This commitment to human rights and transparent resource allocation marks a significant step forward in shaping budgetary priorities that prioritize the welfare of all citizens. As discussions continue, the Opposition remains dedicated to advocating for a budget that reflects the needs and aspirations of the people.
