Speaker Anita Among says she will serve for two terms amid corruption accusations. Speaker Among has for the most of this year, been in the eye of the storm for presiding over what many believe has been a corruption-infested parliament.

The speaker herself has drawn a lot criticism for her lavish lifestyle funded by taxpayers money.

However, Among said on Sunday that she had “only one term to serve.

Speaker of Parliament Anita Among says groups of people who are accusing her of being corrupt and demanding her resignation are misguided because she will serve as Speaker for two terms before handing over to her deputy, Thomas Tayebwa.

I only have one term to serve. When I finish serving my one term, I will give (the seat) to Rt Hon Tayebwa to continue,” she said.

Because you don't need to cling to power… then I will hand it over to him.

Hon Among was speaking at a thanksgiving ceremony held on Sunday, July 24 by the family of Hon Tayebwa, who is also the MP for Ruhinda North in Mitooma district; and his father, Mzee Daudi Bangirana.

The event was held at St Karoli Lwanga Kigarama Parish where there was commissioning of a 2.5 billion Catholic church building.
