Police in Luwero, Savannah Region, are investigating a suspected cocoa theft that took place on January 6, 2025. It appears a large shipment of 23 tons of cocoa went missing and ended up at the home of a local businessman.

The cocoa had started its journey from Bundibugyo on January 4th, and arrived in Luwero early in the morning of the 6th, around 6:00 am. Instead of reaching its intended destination, the truck, a blue box body, was allegedly diverted. Investigators believe the transporters planned to sell the cocoa to 44-year-old Bisaso Eric at his home in Mabale Zone, Luwero.

Mr. Bisaso reportedly hired 42-year-old Katongole Jackson, a local loader from Kalongo Miti, to help unload the massive quantity of cocoa.
