Sarah Babirye Kityo, the National Resistance Movement-NRM party candidate has been declared new central region youth Member of Parliament.
Leticia Nantabo, the Greater Masaka Region Electoral Commission Officer, declared Kityo elected at about 4am this morning at Patel Shamji hotel in Masaka town.
Kityo garnered 323 votes followed by her independent rival, Arthur Katongole with 298 votes. Thomas Kayanja, the Forum for Democratic Change-FDC party candidate only got four votes.
Oscar Omony Otema, also an NRM party candidate has won the Northern Uganda youth parliamentary elections.
Omony garnered 533 votes to defeat his independent rival, George Abdul who polled 449 votes. The Forum for Democratic Change-FDC party candidate, Innocent Ayoo stepped down a few minutes to the polls in favor of Abdul.
In the Western region, Mwine Mpaka was declared winner at 2:50 am this morning with 660votes. His closest rival Amanya Tumukunde polled 463 votes, while Fortunate Nuwasasira came last with just 10 votes.
The Eastern region however did not vote after one of the candidates in the race went missing.
