The famous pastor Happy Ngabo, known to many as FDC Pastor has been arrested and is being held at Katwe police station.
The arrest comes after a series of warnings from police that the Black Tuesday prayers which pastor Ngabo has been leading are unlawful.
The prayers and other defiance party activities were on Friday declared unlawful by the constitutional judge justice, Stephen Kavuma. Police has since warned the party to not go against the Court orders, though the FDC party leadership insists they have not been served by any court.
This morning, the IGP told the media that all government security organizations would work together to enforce the law on FDC if its members do not follow the court orders.
“Whoever ignores the order and goes ahead to engage in those prohibited demonstration they should know that they will be in contempt of court and shall be criminally liable,” Kayihura warns.
Ngabo’s arrest was made public by former FDC presidential candidate Dr. Kiiza Besigye on twitter; “Pastor Happy Ngabo, coming to Tues prayers at Fdc Hqs has been arrested, roughed-up& now at Katwe Police Stn. All who can, go to rescue him.”
The crack-down continues on both FDC members and members of the press who are covering the scenes. Two journalists were arrested and released with no charges this morning after they were found taking pictures in Kasangati, where police mounted road blocks.
