Ugandans on social media want a general and thorough audit into the February 2016 general election as the ruling NRM party loses more members from the house.
The development comes after NRM lost at least 20 members in election petitions, while a few others are from the opposition.
Yesterday, the state minister for health Sarah Opendi was disgracefully thrown out of the house after her rival Jacinta Ayo proved that the electoral results had been altered in the minister’s favor.
Opendi was the woman MP for Tororo district. Today, two members of NRM, the illiterate Lwengo woman Member of Parliament Cissy Namujju and Boaz Kasirabo, the Member of Parliament for Kooki County were thrown out of the house too.
Court heard that Namujju did not even seat primary leaving examinations, but forged all her certificates including O’ and A’ level results. Namujju made a fool of herself, when court asked her basic primary school examinations and she could not answer any.
In her ruling today, the presiding Judge Margaret Tibulya found Namujju guilty of forgery and uttering false documents and directed the electoral commission to conduct fresh elections in Lwengo.
Meanwhile, the same judge threw Boaz Kasirabo, the Member of Parliament for Kooki County out of the house over election fraud.
These join tens of others who lost their seats in the same manner including, Peter Ssematimba, Christine Acen Ayoo, Ernest Kiiza, Nathan Igeme Nabeta, Viola Akurut Adome, Engola Okello and many others.
Now Ugandans believe the whole electoral process, including that of the head of state was a sham, and they want an audit.
Ugandans took to face book to demand today that; “Its high time we have a general audit for the whole election process from the top Lol.”
Another one wondered; “What's wrong with NRM chaps?”
One even insinuated that the presidential election could have been rigged despite the court ruling that found it otherwise; “if the surbodinates are being thrown out of parliament under the nrm party then lets call for a general audit for the presidential elections.”
