Police and military have heavily deployed in Entebbe and along Entebbe road as FDC leader Dr. Kiiza Besigye returns from abroad.
Meanwhile, police has vowed not to allow anyone at Entebbe International Airport to welcome him.
Addressing a news conference on Sunday afternoon, police spokesperson Andrew Felix Kaweesi said they are not aware of any official function by the opposition political party on October 3 as it has been communicated through media.
But on Friday, Emiliano Kayima, the Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson told our news desk, that the force had allowed a few FDC top officials to welcome the opposition iron man back home.
Our reporter who is already at the airport tells us that the officials have been denied entry together with some journalists.
Kaweesi however claims they never received any letter communicating changes in Besigye’s return from Thursday 29th September to today Monday 3rd October 2016.
The police also warned that referring to Dr. Besigye as president is treasonous and will lead to arrest and prosecution of those who describe the opposition leader as head of state.
According to Kaweesi, posters and announcements have been made by FDC officials in relation to referring to Dr Besigye as ‘the people’s president’ which he warned was illegal.
