Opposition Ironman Dr. Kiiza Besigye has refused to lose at the game of attention seeking after he got himself arrested this morning at Jinja Chief Magistrates Court.
Besigye who was in company of other opposition members including the leader of opposition Winnie Kiiza was blocked together with his group from accessing the Court room but insisted on the matter.
The group had showed up to offer support to the Omusinga wa Rwenzururu Charles Wesley Mumbere who was appearing before the court for mention of his murder case.
He tried to fight armed police officers who bundled him on a police pickup and whisked him away.
A few minutes later, Besigye started tweeting about his arrest; “Arrested for trying to attend court appearance of Omusinga Wa Rwenzururu in Jinja. Impunity will end. No turning back!!”
He later added; “Arrested at Jinja Magistrate's Court this morning. Now in black police van driving crazily on Kayunga Rd towards Naggalama. Phone may go now.”
It is not yet clear, where the Ironman is being held.
Meanwhile, Mumbere has been sent back to Jail until December 28th. Today, the state slapped terror charges on top of the murder charge he has been facing. He has been remanded to Luzira.
Mumbere has been held in Jinja since his arrest on November 27th.
