Opposition Democratic party’s National Executive committee, NEC has unanimously decided to maintain its only representative at the East African Legislative Assembly EALA, Hon Fred Denis Mukasa Mbidde.
Addressing the press in Kampala today morning, the party deputy publicist Waiswa Alex Mufumbiro said that after receiving information that the term of office of the current members of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) is coming to an end in the first half of 2017, the party’s NEC unanimously resolved that Hon. Fred Denis Mukasa Mbidde be declared the Democratic Party candidate to represent Uganda in the East African Legislative Assembly for a second and last term for the period 2017-2022.
Meanwhile, the same meeting agreed that vacancies on the National Executive Committee shall be filled by the next National Council sitting in accordance with Article 15 of the Party Constitution.
