Voters in Kagoma County have this morning to polls, in a by-election that will see them choose a member or parliament, after annulment of NRM's Moses Walyomu Muwanika’s 2016 election by court of appeal citing noncompliance with electoral laws.

Kagoma County has 158 polling stations and 101,910 registered voters. The race has attracted four candidates including the former legislator, NRM's Moses Walyomu Muwanika, FDC's Timothy Batuwa Lusala, Mohammed Bidondole Bismark and Alex Kintu Brandon, both independents.

Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission has established a complaints desk to allow voters register their complaints.

On Wednesday afternoon, Electoral Commission unveiled a complaints desk with six toll free numbers.

Addressing journalists last evening ahead of the polls this morning, the EC Chairman, Justice Simon Byabakama, said the initiative is aimed at reaching out to voters to ensure they report cases of malpractices to allow the Commission to respond appropriately.

According to Byabakama, the complaints Desk, which is stationed at Kagoma county headquarters is to be manned by the EC publicist Jotham Taremwa and a team of EC staff and Police personnel.

According to the Commission, voters can reach the complaints desks using any of the following toll free numbers 0800110022, 0800110023, 0800100996, 0800100998, 0800776776 and 0800778778.

Early this week, some of the voters expressed concern on the escalation of violence ahead of the polls. However, Byabakama warns the rival candidates and their supporters against electoral violence, saying they will be apprehended and prosecuted.
