Igara East Member of Parliament Andrew Martial has been thrown out of parliament by by Justices Egoda Ntende, Richard Buteera and new deputy chief justice Owiny Odolo.
The justices also asked the electoral commission to organize a fresh election.
Trouble for Martial started when his closest rival Micahel Mawanda challenged the former’s election sighting irregularities in the voting, tallying and announcing of results like arithmetic variations on the result declaration forms, creation of non gazetted polling stations, ballot stuffing, intimidation, defamation by agents of his opponent and bribery, which he said influenced the outcome of the polling exercise.
Mawanda formerly lost to Martial in the NRM primaries but decided to run as an independent candidate. The three Justices this morning sided with the former.
Martial, an NRM candidate has been vocal in the #Kojikwatako campaign supporting legislators opposed to the lifting of presidential age limit.
Mawanda is a former Igara East MP.
